Residents have a wide array of recreational options to choose from.
The city operates.....
.....five community parks and 16 neighborhood parks,
an indoor public swimming pool and many youth and adult sports
programs. There are more than 30 miles of bicycle routes as well as
many rural roads for biking. Six public and 10 private golf courses
are within a 20-mile radius. Additionally, the Channel Islands
National Park, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area and the
Los Padres National Forest are all within a minimal driving
distance. Consequently, Camarillo residents can enjoy hiking,
camping, snow or water skiing, fishing, horseback riding, and
sailing (among other activities) easily in a single day.
Camarillo offers a
wide variety of options when it comes to shopping, dining and
entertainment. The restoration of the “Old Town” area has added a
number of shops and restaurants for residents to choose from. For
those seeking a bargain, the Camarillo Premium Outlets feature over
125 fine outlet stores, including some very upscale names you won't
find at other outlet malls. Camarillo also fills the niche of the
smaller, specialized shopping experience very nicely with many
community-oriented shopping centers.
Camarillo is well represented with cultural activities. This includes
the Camarillo Arts Council, including the Summer Concerts in the Park;
the Camarillo Community Theater; the Camarillo Children's Theater;
Community Band Concerts; the Camarillo Art Center; the Camarillo
Celtic Festival; the Camarillo Fiesta Association and Annual Fiesta
and Street Faire; the Pleasant Valley Historical Society; and the
Camarillo Ranch Foundation.
Occupying just over 19 square miles of land, the city enjoys an
unusually high percentage of college-educated and professionally
employed residents. That has led to Camarillo becoming a popular
location for the high tech and specialty products industries. The
city’s many newer business parks, combined with its superior weather
and rural surroundings are attracting a number of quality firms.
